Cub Pack 167 and Boy Scout Troop 167 have been “scouting for food” this week to help the Stuart Cottage Pantry generate additional food donations, which are then given to area families in need.
Pantry Director Marlis Beeler says Stuart residents have had plastic grocery sacks placed at their doorsteps this week, and she asks everyone to be generous with their giving during the Scouts’ food drive. Beeler says items donated should only be in non-breakable containers and non-perishable, such as pasta, rice, canned meats, cornbread mix, hamburger helper and canned soups or soup mixes.
Food sacks should be placed back outside residents’ homes by no later than 8am tomorrow. After that time, 167 Scouts and Cubs will come by to pick up the sacks and deliver them to the Cottage Pantry.
If a sack is not picked up tomorrow, residents are asked to call 515-480-8314, and a Scout will be sent to come pick it up.
