Jefferson LibraryNational Library Week is next week and the Jefferson Public Library invites everyone to help them celebrate their 110th anniversary.

Library Director Jane Millard says that starting Monday, April 14th and for the rest of the month, they will have displays and contests that deal with either the number 110 in honor of the library being open for 110-years or the year 1904 when the library was first established.

On top of that, Millard adds that the Friends of the Library will be hosting an open house from 1-5pm on Monday for the public to view some of the displays during National Library Week.

She describes some of the contests that correspond with their 110th anniversary.

“Special activities planned for all ages including, if you’re the 100th patron in each day, you’ll get a special prize, if you check out the 100th item for that day you’ll get a special prize and if you find a birthday candle anywhere in the library, you’ll get a special prize.”

Since Andrew Carnegie gave the City of Jefferson a $10,000 grant to build the library in 1904, Millard adds that having libraries are an asset to any community and she encourages everyone to celebrate another milestone with them during National Library Week.
