The Dallas County Board of Supervisors approved a Northern Natural Gas Pipeline easement at their regular meeting Tuesday.

The Board approved the 50-foot-wide perpetual easement to put in a new pipeline underneath a section of the High Trestle Trail. It also comes with a one-time payment of $500 to the Dallas County Conservation Board.

Also, the Board heard a Dallas County Administration Building update and further discussed the design with the idea being that the look of a potential new building should be historical. The Board agreed they should work with the City of Adel to make sure the design of the building follows any ordinance the City has in place.

The Board also held an emergency management agency staffing workshop to discuss hiring a new full time staff member in the next year in January or February and the Board was supportive of the proposal.

Finally, the Board approved the ratification of proposed amendments to the Board of Health regulation chapter 32 non-public water wells which simplified the regulation and discussed the Dallas County Sheriff vacancy as Sheriff Chad Leonard retired and the Board agreed they will handle the vacancy through appointment and the notice will be published on September 8th. The Board can make the appointment once the notice is published and there will then be 14 days for residents to petition to have a special election.
