For a second night in a row, Greene County played in a volleyball non-conference triangular. The Rams lost two of three sets on Monday night in Jefferson to both Boone and Kuemper Catholic (Carroll), then went to Panorama High School in Panora last night to face the host Panthers and South Central Calhoun Titans and won 2-0 in both matches. Scores vs. SCC were 25-23 and 30-28, while the Rams downed the Panthers 25-12, 25-19. Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s team is now 5-2 on the season and all the matches are non-conference. In sets, Greene County improved to 13-4.
Coach Heisterkamp told Raccoon Valley Radio, “The SCC match was some of the best we have played so far this season. Our goal was to have a strong start, to be consistent in basic fundamental play, and grow under pressure.”
Bella Schroeder had nine kills vs. the Titans and Kaylee Stalder had seven kills. Katrina Heupel was credited with eight digs vs. SCC. Schroeder had four blocks with two each for Stalder and Natalee Baugh.
The match with Panorama saw Stalder lead in kills with 10 and Schroeder add seven kills. Ashlynn Hinners had three kills with two from Baugh.
