The Panorama Panthers girls and boys cross country teams headed out on the course for their first meet of the season last week and came away with positive results.
The Panthers girls and boys cross country teams headed to the Gowrie Country Club last week to take part in their first meet of the season and all told there were two girls and two boys who competed at the meet this year for the Panthers.
On the girls side runner Mary Fett had a solid outing on the course placing the highest for the Panthers coming in 12th place with a time of 22:36 and Head Coach Greg Thompson said Fett ran well and placed well in a tough field mixed in with ranked runners.
Continuing on the girls side Avery Bahrenfuss placed 65th with a time of 29:22 and Thompson said Bahrenfuss is the only runner with previous high school experience in cross country and she ran her fastest time ever on the course.
Moving to the boys side Gryffin Burchfield placed 113th overall with a time of 26:36 and Thompson said Burchfield was experiencing his first time on a competitive high school sports team and is showing improvement day after day.
Rounding out the Panorama runners was Zach Hayden who placed 125th overall with a time of 27:58 and Thompson said this was the farthest Hayden has run all season.
The Panthers cross country teams got their first action out of the season last week and will be looking forward to their next meet which will take place beginning at 5 p.m. this Thursday at Madrid High School for a JV/Varsity invitational.
