A local church was successful in raising much needed supplies for the school year.
The Calvary Assembly of God orchestrated two programs this summer for the West Central Valley School District that includes Adopt A Teacher and Sue’s School Supply Drive. Both of these programs were designed to help students and teachers in need of school supplies for the school year.
Pastor Matthew Casey says they gave out new backpacks with supplies to 71 students and helped 25 teachers get what they needed. He points the student they helped almost tripled from last year.
“We serve probably 29 students each year. So it actually grew to 71 this year. So the need and the growth of the actual student drive just super exceeded what we actually even thought we were going to get.”
Casey says they plan on continuing both of these programs for the near future.
