A local Guthrie County FFA Chapter recently received a significant grant.
The 2022 Iowa FFA Alumni and Supporters selected Panorama FFA to receive a grant of $500 to help promote Agricultural Education and Chapter Projects in each district of the Iowa FFA. Chapter Advisor Steven Hameister tells Raccoon Valley Radio they will use these funds to help expenses with their poultry flock which serves as a supervised agricultural experience for many members.
“Yea it’s huge for us, you know to be able to get some funding from outside sources. We applied for that grant earlier in the spring and I was notified of it about a week ago but it’s big for us. We started a new project just this past couple of years, we are working with chickens, poultry.”
Hameister says this project involves the high school and middle school FFA students giving presentations to elementary students about hatching eggs and utilizing those eggs as their SAE projects. The Panorama FFA Chapter was one of six chapters selected for this grant.
