Work on the new Greene County Animal Shelter is making up some lost ground quickly.
Jefferson City Administrator Mike Palmer says the contractor, Jensen Brothers, are working quickly to build the 3,000-square-foot, $906,900 facility in the Greene County Development Corporation West Business Park, along Highway 4. Palmer points out there were some soil compaction issues, where part of the foundation was sinking. However, Palmer notes those issues are now resolved, as the frame and exterior walls are up.
“What you can’t see is they were going to pour concrete floor later on after the building was up, they went ahead and poured it before the building was put up. So that part is done inside and utilities have been run up to it. So we’re looking at maybe just going to be a couple of weeks behind schedule.”
This past May the soil issue was discovered and the frame had to be taken down. The anticipated completion date will be later this fall, around October.
