Today marks the beginning of the Panorama Panthers volleyball season when they get their first live action against another team in the form of scrimmage.
Panthers volleyball will get their first action against another team when they take part in a varsity scrimmage beginning at 3:30 p.m. today at Ignite Sports and Fitness in Grimes as they will get to see where they are at before the season officially kicks off. Head Coach Mollie Sorber talks about what she hopes to see from today’s action.
“From my girls specifically I’m just really hoping that they can really work together as a team and collaborate really well. We’ve really been focusing on these things called our five inner beliefs and one of them that I have really been preaching since the beginning of the summer is focusing on what you can control, your attitude and your effort and ultimately that’s on themselves and that’s on our side of the court you can’t control anything that’s going on on the other side of the court.”
Panthers volleyball will have plenty of familiar faces out on the court again this year as there were only six seniors on the team last year that played their last sets for Panorama. Sorber tells Raccoon Valley Radio that she is excited about the talent returning to the team this year.
“As a team overall we have got a lot of talent coming up and I am really excited to utilize the talent we have and put forth the talent that we’ve been seeing over the summer and the hard work that we have been seeing over the summer and using that to our advantage.”
Last year the Panthers ended their season with a 7-21 mark and will be looking to improve upon that this year and make a push to the state tournament that will be held at the Xtreme Arena in Coralville and their journey begins today with their first live action against another team.
