With the school year coming up, it’ll look a bit different with a pandemic policy ending.
The US Department of Agriculture recently announced that for the 2022-23 school year free lunches will no longer be available. Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center Superintendent Josh Rasmussen talks about the change.
“We understand that this is going to be a change for parents and adding that cost from them monthly is something that they didn’t want to increase.”
Rasmussen explains that with record inflation it would be nice to offer free lunches again but notes it would increase prices somewhere else. He points out there is still the free or reduced lunch program that is open for parents to sign their student up for. The ACGC School District did not raise any of their prices for breakfast or lunch for the upcoming year.
