With students heading back to school this month, it’s a time to look at National Immunization Awareness Month.
Dallas County Health Department Public Information Officer Ann Cochran says this month is a good time for people to remember that receiving proper vaccinations helps keep everyone around them safe wherever they are.
“This protects each individual child from disease and also the whole school community. One of the things this year we are thinking about a lot are all the grandparents who missed out on wonderful memories of seeing their grandchildren in school activities during the past couple of years because the grandparents were afraid to be in a large crowd.”
Cochran tells Raccoon Valley Radio if Dallas County can increase the rate of vaccinations for diseases such as COVID-19 or the flu then people will feel more comfortable getting back out and going to activities.
National Immunization Awareness Month is an annual observance held each August and for more resources you can go here.
