Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community has a couple of different events happening this weekend.

Events and Tourism Coordinator Matt Wetrich invites everyone to their next Java and Juice program at Junkyard Cafe in Jefferson. The 30-minute event begins at 9:30am as the locally-owned restaurant will give updates about their business. Wetrich encourages any business or organization to host a Java and Juice.

“We have a lot of Friday mornings open. We usually stick to Fridays at 9:30(am). It’s about a half-hour, very simple, but fun way to kind of re-introduce your business to the community. Just reach out to us over at the Welcome Center, can give us a call or email and we’ll get something scheduled.”

Also starting tomorrow and going through Saturday is a special retail promotion called, “The Dog Days of Summer Sale.” Wetrich says there will be 14 downtown businesses participating and there will be signage where dogs will be allowed into certain shops. Additionally, Wetrich points out donations for People for Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) of Greene County will be accepted and if you do, you can also receive discounts from participating retailers.

“PAWS does great work. A great contributor to our community and very needed. Here this fall we will have a new facility for them to host our animals that are in need of adoption. So (there’s a) list of things that you can donate that PAWS really is in need of right now.”

PAWS will also have adoptable animals available during this two-day event.

List of needed items for PAWS:

-Paper towels

-Tall kitchen trash bags
