Due to condition of some of the sod put down on Linduska Field earlier this summer, Greene County school officials have moved the season opening varsity football game with ACGC. Instead of playing at Linduska Field on Friday, Aug. 26 as originally scheduled, the non-district game now is set for the Ogden High School football field on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m.
Activities Direction Dave Wright told Raccoon Valley Radio, “As probably most people know, this summer we lessened the crown on Linduska Field and put new sod down. Unfortunately, the hot weather and dryness came in and some of that sod has not completely taken root, so we’re trying to give ourselves a little more time and maybe some cooler weather to help it build a little bit better. We want to wait to play on it so it’s safe for the players and for the field.”
The A.D. added most of the field is fine. Football games below the varsity level that were scheduled for Linduska Field will be played in Grand Junction until the field in Jefferson is deemed playable. The hope is that the only varsity game affected will be the season opener. The Rams are on the road at Perry in week two and in Carroll vs. Kuemper Catholic in week three before returning home to play Des Moines Christian in the annual homecoming game on Sept. 16.
