Friday, July 29th

12:31am: An Officer assisted a motorist at Elm and Highway 30.

3:00am: An Officer located an unlocked business door in the 1900 block of N. Mulberry St. The building was searched and secured.

3:18am: An Officer located an unlocked business door in the 300 block of American Ave. The building was searched and secured.

3:35am: An Officer located an unlocked business door in the 600 block of E. Lincoln Way. The building was searched and secured.

6:04am: Members of the Jefferson Police Department, the Greene County Sheriffs Office, and the Division of Criminal Investigations executed a search warrant in the 700 block of N. Cedar St. Suspected controlled substances were found. Charges are pending the completion of the investigation.

9:29am: Jerry Kelly reported seeing a suspicious male, on numerous occasions, in the 800 block of S. Chestnut St. An Officer collected information.

11:05am: Laura Wine reported that another subject complained that she parked her vehicle in an area where parking was not prohibited, in the 1300 block of Ferguson Circle. An Officer advised her she could park where she wanted to, as long as it was not in violation of any laws / ordinances.

1:54pm: Gary Parker requested an Officer be present during a civil property exchange in the 600 block of S. Maple St. The Officer assisted.

6:49pm: Jesse Ulrich reported a vehicle that had crossed the center line on Elm St. An Officer located the vehicle but did not see any violations.

Saturday, July 30th

12:17am: John Schoening reported a possible trespass at a residence in the 600 block of S. Locust St. An Officer determined that the person on the property was the owner.

2:04pm: Coleman Marlow reported receiving a friend request on Facebook, from a subject he did not know. He asked what he could do about the situation. An Officer advised him to block the subject if he wanted.

2:59pm: Lois Brandt reported that three juveniles were causing problems at the Rec. Center. An Officer responded but the subjects had left prior to the Officer’s arrival.

3:30pm: An Officer was called to the Funky Zebra in regards to a “shoplifting” situation. An Officer responded and investigated. Two juveniles were subsequently charged with Theft in the Fifth Degree.

4:22pm: An Officer assisted a motorist at Henderson Park.

7:28pm: Joe Cox reported the accidental loss of an envelope containing cash.

11:44pm: Nick Martino reported a suspicious vehicle at a residence in the 1200 block of Rushridge Road. An Officer located the vehicle and determined it was authorized to be at the residence.

Sunday, July 31st

2:29am: An Officer was called to Hy-Vee in regards to an alarm activation. The Officer determined that the alarm had accidently been activated by an employee.

8:37am: Shawn Brown reported a subject acting suspicious in the Wild Rose Casino parking lot. An Officer is investigating the situation.

9:29am: An Officer was called to Hy-Vee in regards to a “shoplifting” situation. An Officer responded and investigated. The investigation led to the Officer Charging Royce Gonnelly and Alicia Hawkins, both of Jefferson, with Theft in the Fifth Degree. Arrest Warrants were requested for them.

12:40pm: Dawna Helms reported a theft from a shed in the 700 block of S. Elm St. A Officer is investigating.

1:27pm: Janet Sabus reported a possible chemical leak from a tank at Power Lift. It was determined that the situation was not out of the ordinary and was not a hazard.

6:02pm: McKenzie Reese reported a careless driving on Highway 30. An Officer checked the area, but was unable to locate the vehicle.

8:28pm: Teddi Nielson reported a dog in the 600 block of N. Vine that possibly didn’t have water. An Officer checked the dog and determined that it was properly cared for.

**** After the completion of an investigation, an Officer has charged Gwendolyn Kissell, of Jefferson, with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. An arrest warrant was requested.

**** After the completion of an investigation, an Officer has charged a juvenile with Possession of a Controlled Substance. The information was forwarded to the Juvenile Court.

Monday, August 1st

10:06am: Melinda Gallagher reported a trespasser in the 700 block of S. Vine St. An Officer responded and subsequently made contact with the person who was trespassing, and advised them not to be on the property.

10:08am: An Officer provided a funeral escort.

10:33am: Marlene Floyd reported a vehicle parked over the sidewalk in the 800 block of S. Chestnut St. An Officer spoke to the vehicle owner. The vehicle was moved.

3:42pm: An Officer was called to Casey’s in regards to a dog running at large. An Officer responded and took possession of the dog. It was later returned to the owner.

6:08pm: An Officer issued a parking violation notice to Kelly Gray, of Jefferson, in the 500 block of W. Madison St.

9:27pm: Lynn Wilkinson reported a fire in the 1200 block of Southfield Dr. An Officer checked the area but did not locate a fire.

11:51pm: An Officer issued a parking violation notice to Shawn Whitmore, of Ankeny, in the 500 block of N. Olive St.

10:03pm: A traffic stop at Elm St. and Central St. resulted in a citation being issued to Tanner Lange, of Jefferson, for “Operating non Registered Vehicle”.
