We’ll take a break from season stats to give an update on accolades accomplished by both the softball and baseball teams for the 2021-22 seasons. In an earlier story, we talked about some broken records and conference and district team placements for the softball and baseball teams, but we now have some All State team placements to add for the softball team.

Starting with records that were set, the softball team set the school record for most wins in a season with 28, 12 more wins than the previous record. Junior Marissa Hagen set the record for most wins by a pitcher in a season, pitching in 27 of the Wildcats wins. Fellow junior Kamryn Nourse set the school record for RBI’s in a game, with 6 in the game against Des Moines North. Sophomore Zoey Dickson set the record for most RBI’s in a season, with 41. Fellow sophomore Ella Sand set the record for hits in a season, breaking her own record of 41 from last year by hitting 57 times this year.

Sand, Hagen and Dickson were named to the West Central Activities Conference first team, while junior Kinsey Alt and Nourse were named as honorable mentions. Hagen and Sand were also selected to be a part of the Class 2A Southwest Region All District Team as pitcher and outfielder respectively.

After this segment originally aired, All State team selections were announced. Ella Sand was selected to be on the 2022 Class 2A All State 2nd team as an outfielder, while teammates Marissa Hagen and Zoey Dickson were selected to be on the 2022 Class 2A All State 3rd Team as pitcher and infielder respectively.

For the baseball team, Kaedon Lindsay was named to the West Central Activities Conference second team, and fellow juniors Braiden and Blaise Beane received honorable mentions. Lindsay was also selected as the 2nd Team All District Catcher.

We’ll return to statistics from both teams tomorrow.
