Greene County softball player Emma Hoyle was named to the Iowa Girls Coaches Association third All-State team in Class 3A. The organization named 66 All-State players in 3A with 22 each to first, second, and third teams. Only 18 of the 66 honored are seniors.
Hoyle went 13-12 on the pitching rubber for the 13-13 Rams. She struck out 230 batters in 165 innings and had a .295 batting average with 25 runs batted in and she belted the only two home runs the Rams had for the 2022 season. She the first Greene County player in recent seasons to be named to an All-State team.
The Class 3A Coach of the Year is Robin Olhausen Brand of Mount Vernon. Her team was the number one rated and top seeded 3A team and they won the State title. She is a 1991 Jefferson-Scranton high school graduate and her parents, Roger and Rose Olhausen, still reside in Jefferson.
