There are a couple of upcoming youth programs in August with the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department.

The annual Safety Camp is for those going into kindergarten and the program will be from August 2nd-5th from 9-11am at the Greene County Community Center. The free program, sponsored by the Jefferson Elks Lodge, will cover several safety aspects including bicycle, bus, pool, drugs and alcohol, fire, animal, among others. Safety Camp is limited to the first 20 participants.

The Summer Cheer Stunt and Tumbling Camp will be held August 15h-18th from 10-11am also at the community center. Those going into kindergarten through fourth grade are invited to learn basic cheerleading routines and the high school cheerleaders will perform advanced stunts to show the progression of cheerleading. The camp will be led by high school varsity cheer coach Shannon Black. The cost to participate is $30 for community center members and $35 for non-members. Deadline to sign up is August 12th.
