Cash rental rates saw a large increase this year across Iowa.

According to Iowa State University Extension, the survey of cash rental rates show there was an increase in 2022 of an average of 10.3-percent, or up to $256 per acre. The study reports the main reasons for this increase include stronger commodity prices and higher farmland values.

The results were based on 1,401 respondents from farmers, landowners, professional farm managers and realtors, agricultural lenders and others with knowledge of cash rents. This was the third consecutive year that cash rents had an increase and the largest jump in cash rents since 2013.
