An annual contest is taking place this week at Spring Lake Park to get people thinking about the holiday season.

Spring Lake Ice Cube Concession and Skating Rink is hosting the Christmas in July contest. Campers are encouraged to put up their favorite holiday decorations on their vehicles and the top three will win prizes. The first place prize is a free two night stay in a cabin, a $50 gift card to Casey’s General Store, one free hour of boating and a free quart of ice cream. Second place will get two free nights of camping, two free hours of boating, four passes to the skating rink and two quarts of ice cream. Third place will receive a pup tent, two chairs, a cooler with s’mores ingredients, one free hour of boating, four passes to the skating rink and one quart of ice cream.

The contest will be Friday and Saturday, with judging to take place Saturday night. No signups are necessary, you will be entered in the contest if you decorate the outside of your vehicle. Plus, Santa Claus will be at the park Saturday night during the last firewood run between 6 and 6:30pm.
