Tuesday, July 19th
12:10am: An Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of East McKinley for a report of trespassing taking place from Richard Burkhart. The Officer checked the property and found no one suspicious.
1:35am: An Officer was dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of North Cedar Street for a report from Devon King of a female damaging the residence. The Officer is investigating.
9:36am: Cheree Derry of Jefferson reported a stray dog running loose near the intersection North Wilson Street and West McKinley. The Officer located the dog and assisted in getting it back to its owner.
11:53am: Robert Smit requested a welfare check on a female who lived in the 1000 block of West Adams Street. The Officer completed the check and found the female was not in need of assistance.
1:31pm: Anna Kissel of Jefferson reported unwanted contact from a female. The Officer is investigating.
1:40pm: Mary Muzney of Glidden, Iowa reported a theft believed to have occurred in the city limits of Jefferson. As a result of the investigation, a warrant was applied for the arrest of Rodney Charles Sheffield for “Theft in the 4th Degree – Serious Misdemeanor”
2:56pm: Carol Gower of Jefferson reported witnessing a single vehicle accident in the 900 block of South Elm Street. The Officer investigated and found a Green Dodge Ram 2500 truck was being operated by Steven Murphy. The vehicle was northbound on South Elm Street in the 900 block. The vehicle experienced a mechanical issue causing it to lose control and swerve off the roadway causing minor damage. As a result of the investigation, Steven Harold Murphy was issued a citation for “Violation of Financial Liability – Accident”
4:27pm: An employee of Peoples Bank reported a female on their property of 116 West State Street who was acting “odd”. The Officer located the female, identified as Destiny George of Jefferson. She reported she was picking up rocks out of the Bank’s driveway to paint. Destiny was told she was on private property and requested to leave, she did so.
5:10pm: An anonymous male reported seeing what he believed was a “hand grenade” on the ground in the 100 block of West Wilcoxway. The Officer located the item and found it was a truck’s ball hitch which had been painted green. The item was disposed of by the Officer.
5:42pm: An employee of Hy-Vee reported a suspected shoplifter on the property at 106 West Washington Street. An Officer responded and as a result of the investigation placed Destiny George of Jefferson under arrest for “Theft in the 5th Degree” and “Disorderly Conduct”
8:32pm: An Officer assisted the Greene County Ambulance with a female patient in the 500 block of South Vine Street.
9:07pm: An Officer preformed a traffic stop in the 200 block of South Cedar Street. As a result of the traffic stop, Kandace Foster of Ankeny was issued a citation for “Violation – Financial Liability”
11:29pm: An Officer performed a traffic stop near the intersection of Elm Street and 250th Street. As a result of the traffic stop, Sean Sebourn of Jefferson was issued a citation for “Excessive Speed”
