When Friday arrives the Perry Chamber of Commerce will host the 2nd Street Block Party for people to enjoy music and a good time.

The 2nd Street Block Party will take place tomorrow from 5-10 p.m. with live music being provided by Standing Hampton from 5:30-9:30 p.m. with the entrance located at the intersection of Warford and 2nd Streets.

Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti says this is a new chamber event and is open to anyone who is 21-years-old and over with a $5 admission charge.

“It’ll be nice to have this fundraiser for the chamber. We’ve heard a lot of people get excited about this concept. We have Friday Fest in the park which is very family friendly and really great for that really casual setting but there seemed to be some interest in more of an adult street dance. So, we are excited to bring that this year and see how it goes.”

Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio the hopes are to raise funds for a couple of projects that are coming up including a new digital sign near the Welcome Depot.

“We hope that everyone comes out and supports it for the community. I know the (Perry High School) junior class will be selling some water and collecting cans and the Chamber will have the beer tent but there will be other businesses nearby that you can still check out.”

Also, Raccoon Valley Radio’s Little Big Red Radio will be live on location from 3-5 p.m. during the event providing live updates and other announcements.
