A Grand Junction man was arrested Sunday afternoon for an alleged incident with a sword.

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened at 12:45pm in the 1000 block of Railroad in Grand Junction. The sheriff, deputies and an Iowa State Trooper responded to a call of a male yelling, hitting a minivan with a sword and wanting to kill two people. Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio the suspect wasn’t at the location but they later found him riding back to the residence on a bicycle with the sword.

Williams says the suspect, 41-year-old Richard Keller, had an arrest warrant for a felony for burglary and a misdemeanor for theft from an unrelated incident and he dropped the sword when they approached him. As Keller was being arrested, deputies also found methamphetamine. Keller was charged with a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for possession of a controlled substance and a serious misdemeanor for carrying a dangerous weapon.

Keller was booked into the Greene County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
