The first day of the 2022 Dallas County Fair held plenty of fun activities to take part in throughout the day and included the crowning of the 2022 Dallas County Fair Queen.

This year’s court featured seven deserving candidates ranging from recent high school graduates to soon-to-be juniors at local schools including Woodward-Granger, Adel-DeSoto-Minburn and Dallas Center-Grimes. This year 2022 Woodward-Granger graduate Mackenzie Dresback was crowned as queen. Dresback was involved in student council, FFA, basketball and national honor society.

Dresback has represented Dallas County at its fair and will get the opportunity to represent Dallas County at the Iowa State Fair Queen Competition later this year. Dresback shared her thoughts on being named as queen this year.

“It’s very empowering and I am just so happy and thrilled that I get this opportunity and this experience to not only grow myself but be a role model for other people, it’s kind of leaving me speechless right now.”

With a field of seven candidates that were chosen from including Dresback, this year’s runner up in Kaydee Bennett, Bailey Christensen, Katelyn Schaefer, Celia Kreifels, Bailey Renner and Jenna Schlieman Fair Queen Coordinator Darcy Spellman says this year’s group of girls was extremely difficult to vote on a winner.

“I would say this year’s class is above all others that it was such a hard decision that if we could have sent all seven of our girls to the Iowa State Fair in August we would have and so it was a great group of leaders that I can’t wait to see what they do in the future.”

The Dallas County Fair continues into its last day today from the fairgrounds in Adel.
