Greene County Public Health is reminding county residents of a free service that anyone can take advantage of.
Director Becky Wolf says the free Healthy Rides program is a transportation service for anyone in the county that needs a ride to and from a doctor’s appointment, as well as lab, outpatient, or physical therapy appointments. They can also take people anywhere on the Greene County Medical Center or McFarland Clinic in Jefferson campuses.
Wolf is appreciative of the financial support that they have received for this program.
“It’s a wonderful service. We were able to receive the SUV vehicle through funding through the Grow Greene County (Gaming Corporation grant) so we were thrilled about that. And then we also received support through the Greene County Medical Center Foundation, they helped with some of the operating expenses. We also have support through the Elderbridge Area Agency.”
Wolf says the Healthy Rides operates Monday through Friday from 8am-4:30pm for non-emergency medical transportation with volunteers with the Medical Reserve Corp as the drivers. Contact Greene County Public Health to schedule a ride by calling 515-386-3228.
