adm-7

ADM Tigers baseball ran into a buzzsaw in the first inning on Monday night in their Class 3A substate 2 semifinal, as the Tigers couldn’t overcome a major seven run early deficit and fell to the Winterset Huskies by the score of 8-6. ADM ends their year at 19-9, while Winterset moves to the substate final with a 15-14 record.

Winterset brought up eleven batters in the first inning, as the Tigers struggled to get off the field. They were able to get RBI hits from four different players to build their lead. The Tigers got three back in the bottom half of the frame aided by a two run single by Seth Walter. Winterset grabbed another run in the second inning

In the fifth, ADM got the lead down to three as Sam Holloway picked up an RBI single to make it 8-5, then grabbed another single in the seventh to make it 8-6, but unfortunately the Tiger rally fell short in a tough loss.

Grant Rychnovsky picked up the tough loss, with the ADM bullpen throwing five scoreless innings. Jake Porter was the winning pitcher.

For ADM, this is the first time since 2018 that they won’t play in the state tournament, but were able to put up a fantastic year, finishing in the upper half of the Raccoon River Conference and grabbing some signature victories in the process.

The Tigers will be losing two starters off of their roster but will be returning some major pieces for next year’s team, as they will be looking to reload and find a path to return to the state tournament.
