Greene County High School Band members competed well at the Iowa High School Music Association State Solo and Ensemble contest this past weekend.
Director Becky Greiner says of her 56 entries, 30 solos and ensembles received a division “I”-rating, 17 were division “II”-rating and there were nine division “III”-ratings.
She adds that they had two performances that were labeled “Best of Center” by the judges. Jasmine Mobley was one of the recipient on alto saxophone for her center and a saxophone quartet named “Groovy Loops” with Mobley on soprano saxophone, Emily Joy on alto saxophone, Michael Von Stein on tenor saxophone and Michael Kennedy on baritone saxophone also received a “Best of Center” recognition.
Greiner points out that she’s very pleased with everyone’s performances and that each student put forth their best effort.
Mobley was an all-state participant this past November in Ames.
