The West Central Valley School District hired a new leadership position that is ready to get the school year going. 

Andrew Mayes will be the new principal for Stuart and Dexter Elementary Schools. Mayes has experience being the Secondary Administrator at Melcher-Dallas Junior and Senior High School and also teaching in the Des Moines Public Schools and teaching rural schools in northern Iowa. He explains that he is thrilled to get started in August. 

 “I am really excited. I’ve already been in there in summer school and being with kids. We’ve already had some. Meeting with them and playing at recess time and getting to know some of the staff, then getting everything ready for this coming school year and just been super excited and it’s getting hard to stay away from the building.”

Mayes says his first goal will be to meet all of the students and faculty. He will be taking over for Drew Stonewall who was named the Redfield Middle School Principal.
