With just a 2.4% voter turnout, the special measure for the Greene County School District passed.
According to the Greene County Auditor’s office, of the 136 ballots that were cast, there was an unofficial 116 “yes” to 20 “no” votes. In the City of Jefferson, 77 of the 90 ballots were “yes” and only 13 were “no”. The other two precincts reported the same unofficially with Grand Junction’s tally of 21 “yes” to 4 “no” and Scranton showed 11 “yes” to 1 “no”.
The county auditor’s office unofficially reports nine absentee ballots were counted and seven were for “yes” and two for “no”.
The special measure was a formality for any new school district to establish a revenue purpose statement to authorize the expenditure of the revenues from the State of Iowa Secure and Advanced Vision for Education fund.
It was one of the lowest voter turnouts for an election with 2.4% of the 5,762 registered voters showing up to the polls.
