Due to the 4th of July holiday on Monday, the Greene County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday.

During open forum, it was mentioned that three people applied for the open Greene County Emergency Management position, with interviews to be scheduled soon. 

County Environmental and Zoning Administrator Chuck Wenthold reviewed the process of the proposed solar panel project near Grand Junction. He said following the public informational meeting, NationalGrid Renewables have 30 days to submit a permit for the project through the Iowa Utilities Board. They will review the plans and hold a public hearing prior to potential approval of the permit. Meanwhile, the Supervisors are looking to have a work session at next Monday’s meeting to establish its own solar energy ordinance. This would be prior to the sunset date in September of a six month moratorium on solar projects.

County Engineer Wade Weiss said Secondary Roads is working to install a driveway at the Pioneer Cemetery in Kendrick Township. 

The Board then approved the June 30th cash count as presented, along with the County Recorder’s quarterly report of fees of $91,786 for April through June, and the County Auditor’s quarterly passport report of 38 passports that were issued from April through June. County Recorder Deb McDonald reported that her office had an increase of $114,000 from the 2020 fiscal year to the 2021 fiscal year.
