There was little change in the unemployment figures in our local counties in February.

According to Iowa Workforce Development, Dallas County saw a slight increase in the number of people without a job during the second month of 2014 with 4.1 percent of residents unemployed.

Greene and Guthrie County saw no change between January and February, coming in a 4.7 and 6.1 percent respectively.

Though it could, and has been worse… at the same time last year, Greene County’s unemployment rate was 5.6 percent at Guthrie County’s was 6.8 percent.  There’s no difference in unemployment between February of 2013 and 2014 for Dallas County.

Iowa’s unemployment rate increased slightly from 4.3 to 4.4 percent between the first two months of the year.
