There are big plans for a Jefferson-based bank to expand its reach.
Home State Bank CEO Sid Jones says after building relationships in the Des Moines metro area and leasing an office space in Ankeny since last year, they purchased property in Polk City.
“Not really by accident, we really studied the area. Polk City is a smaller community, we think it operates a lot like Jefferson in a lot of ways. It’s probably not going to be a Grimes, Iowa because they don’t have space for commercial development. And it’s going to be more of a, kind of a big bedroom community when it’s done. The school system we like because they don’t allow open enrollment and if you’re going to come to our school, you pay taxes here. So that’s a little bit different feel as well, compared to so many of the other districts around there.”
Jones says the property is the northeast corner of the main intersection east from the “Mile Long Bridge” over Saylorville Lake. He adds that there is no timeline for construction but he assures everyone the culture that is currently in place at the Jefferson location will also be at their new location. Additionally, the Jefferson branch will house all of the administrative and leadership roles.
