To go along with the softball win on Tuesday, the West Central Valley baseball team played some amazing ball against the AC/GC Chargers as well. Things started slow for the Wildcats, with the Chargers scoring 1 run in the first, and 2 runs in the 3rd before the Wildcats scored a run of their own. The Chargers then scored another 3 runs in the 4th inning to take a 6-1 lead going into the fifth inning.
The chargers scored 4 runs in the 5th inning, and the Wildcats scored 3 more runs of their own to go into the 6th inning down 10-4. The Chargers nabbed another 4 runs to extend their lead to 14-4, before the Wildcats smashed it out of the park in the bottom of the 6th, scoring 10 runs to tie the game, before scoring 1 run in the 7th to win the game 15-14.
Wednesday night the baseball team hosted the Southeast Warren Warhawks and played another close game, leading all the way up until the 7th inning, where the Warhawks got lucky and outscored the Wildcats 6-1, and took the lead to finish the game and give the Wildcats a 12-15 loss.
The softball team’s Wednesday game was the opposite, with the East Union Eagles leading for the majority of the game. The Eagles outscored the Wildcats 8-4 in the first two innings, before the Wildcats chipped away at that lead to take the game and win 11-8.
Both teams faced the Earlham Cardinals in doubleheader action last night. Look for more on those scores tomorrow. No game is scheduled for today, but the baseball team will start postseason play tomorrow, hosting the Woodward-Granger Hawks to see who will advance to the second round against the AC/GC Chargers next Tuesday.
