So far this year there has been plenty of construction going on in Perry as more businesses move into town.
Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson says various projects are being built around town as well as residential activity which has marked an exciting beginning to the year in Perry.
“So far this year has been pretty exciting. We have seen Kwik Star going up, we have seen the new shell building out at the industrial park. Lots of residential activity going on, not only with people starting to renovate their homes again this year but also those new construction homes. ”
Peterson tells Raccoon Valley Radio the year has been good so far and Peterson says the development work is bringing more activity to Perry.
“We are getting a lot of other looks from businesses. I always enjoy looking down Second Street and seeing all of the businesses. Now, we have two streateries downtown, the Tin Pig has theirs up and running. It’s just a really great time in Perry, there is so many businesses open and thriving and that’s just breeding more activity.”
Also, the Perry City Council recently approved tax abatement applications for residential construction completed or to be completed in Perry this year. The abatements are a way to encourage more construction and renovation in the city.
