Greene County opens the high school softball postseason in Harcourt on Wednesday, July 6 vs. Southeast Valley in a first round Class 3A Region 2 contest. The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union put together the eight team region covering half the state and teams from six different conferences. Number seven Saydel (Des Moines) hosts Pocahontas Area, number 13 Sergeant Bluff-Luton is at home with Cherokee Washington, and Harlan Community hosts OABCIG (Ida Grove) in the other first round games.

The Rams and Jaguars should be familiar with each other because they are scheduled to play a regular season game in Jefferson on June 28. Entering the week Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams are 10-11 while SEV from the Twin Lake Conference is 12-8. The Greene County/SEV winner plays the Saydel/PAC winner at Saydel on July 9.
