In non-conference high school softball on Tuesday night in Manson, Greene County and the host Manson-Northwest Webster Cougars squared off and it was all Rams in this one, 11-1 by the 10-run rule in five innings. Greene County improved to 8-10 while the Cougars fell to 7-11.
What a night for Ram junior Emma Hoyle. She fanned 12 batters in five innings, allowing just one run on one hit and two walks. Not only was Hoyle dominant in the pitching circle, she was a monster at the plate with a home run, double, SAC fly, and seven runs batted in. The right-handed hitter now has 21 RBI in 18 games.
Emma Stream doubled twice, singled once, and drove in two during the Rams’ 14 hit attack. Chanlyn Cunningham had three base hits with two singles apiece from Payton Kokenge and Paige Teeples. Olivia Shannon and Alexa Peters each had a single.
It’s back to the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference tonight in State Center vs. West Marshall. JV plays at 4:30 p.m. with the varsity contest set for around 6:15 p.m. The games are being played on the north field, which has no lights.
