The ADM boys’ soccer team begins its 2014 season tomorrow… yes, it is just a home scrimmage against Norwalk, but it is competition nonetheless.
As the season gets underway and the Tigers try to build another state tournament team, head coach Bill Shields says he’s needing leadership.
“Last year’s senior group had a lot of enthusiasm and some good leaders, so that is what we’re looking for now, is some leaders to step up.”
While ADM may be without some of those leaders from last year’s team, Coach Shields does have some names in mind that could step up and fill that void.
“Jake Hutzell was our top scorer last year, so we kind of have to expect that hopefully he’s going to be in a similar situation at the end of this season. And there are a couple of others that could challenge him as far as that’s concerned, I’d like to see kids like Ryan Head and Johnny Reel get amongst the goals as well.”
During the 2013 season, Hutzell scored 15 goals to lead ADM, while Reel was the second leading goal-scorer, finding the back of the net 10 times.
