Auditor of the State Mary Mosiman has released an audit report on Dallas County.

The fiscal year 2013 audit shows the County had a local tax revenue of $147,094,210, including $2,781,417 in tax credits from the state.

Of that money, the County passed more than $127 million on to townships, school districts, cities and other taxing bodies.

Dallas County retained 4.1% more last year over 2012, at $19,705,000.  That money was used to finance County operations.

Other revenues included $5.7 million in charges for service, $5.4 million in operating grants, contributions and restricted interest, $3.8 million in capital grants, $99,000 in unrestricted investment earnings and $229,000 in other revenues.

County expenses totaled $29,939,618 in fiscal year 2013, which is a 3.2% decrease from the previous year.  This includes $8.9 million for roads and transportation, $7.8 million for public safety and $3 million for county environment and education.
