The West Central Valley baseball team hasn’t had as many games as the softball team, but they’re working on turning that around this week. After a win against the Panorama Panthers Monday, the team traveled to Ogden, where they lost a close 3-5 game.
The Wildcats were able to score early on the Bulldogs, getting a run in the 1st inning. Things got tied up in the 3rd inning when the Bulldogs scored a run of their own, before taking off in the 4th inning. The Wildcats were only able to score one run, while the Bulldogs nabbed three. The Bulldogs then scored their last run in the 5th inning, and the Wildcats found their last run in the 7th inning.
The team played strong once again Wednesday night, playing in a knock-down drag-out of a game against the Nodaway Valley Wolverines. Things started slow for the Wildcats, only scoring two runs by the end of the 4th inning, while the Wolverines were able to get four runs. Things turned around in the second half of the game though, as both teams put on a show in the last three innings
The Wildcats scored two runs in the 5th inning, while the Wolverines got four of their own. The 6th inning saw the team scoreless, as the Wolverines nabbed another two runs, but things took a turn for the better in the final inning, where the Wildcats scored seven runs to take a brief lead, before the Wolverines scored their final two runs and ended the game with an 11-12 loss for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats continued play last night with a doubleheader against the Woodward Academy Knights, and will have another game against the Ogden Bulldogs tonight, before finishing the week tomorrow as they host the Nevada Cubs. Look for scores from those games at a later date.
