Roland-Story (Story City) swept a baseball doubleheader from Greene County in Jefferson on Thursday night at Allensworth Field. R-S won 9-0 in game one and 5-0 in game two, to improve to 11-5 overall and 8-1 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play. Coach Matt Paulsen’s Rams are now 4-10 and 3-5.
Greene County struck out 22 times (11 in each games) and had just four hits. A double to left over the head of the outfielder by senior Blake Hamann had the lone hit by the Rams in game one. Game two saw three hits, all singles, with two by senior Joe Carey and one from senior Bryce Stalder.
Stalder took the pitching loss in the first and and Carey was on the short end of the game two decision.
