The Greene County Board of Supervisors met in special session Tuesday.

Three Supervisors attended the meeting, including Pete Bardole, Mick Burkett and Tom Contner. Because neither Supervisor Chair John Muir nor Vice Chair Dawn Rudolph were there, Burkett was approved as the chair of the special meeting.

The Board approved a letter submitted by James Hedges for a recount of the primary election for the Republican nomination for Supervisor District Three. The unofficial results from last week’s election had Dan Benitz defeating Hedges by six votes for the Republican nomination for the open Supervisor District Three seat. Current Supervisor for District Three Tom Contner did not seek re-election.

Deputy Auditor Billie Hoskins said the next step is for Hedges and Benitz to each select an individual to do the recount, along with those two individuals mutually agreeing to a third person that will also be involved. The recount must happen within 18 days of when the Supervisors conducted the canvas of votes at their meeting this past Monday. A date for the recount has not been announced.
