Wrestling rarely stops for Kale Petersen and those like him, and many times it’s an injury that keeps athletes at that level from competing. That’s the case for the Greene County High School senior-to-be as  he was named to the Jr. National Duals Team Roster for the state of Iowa at 126 lbs., but a shoulder injury will prevent him from competing in Tulsa, OK this weekend. The tournament features dual meet teams in freestyle and Greco-Roman from states around the country sponsored by USA Wrestling.

Petersen is a two-time Iowa High School State Champion with one season yet to wrestle. He won as a sophomore at 106 lbs. West Fork (Sheffield) in Class 1A before transferring to Greene County and winning in 2022 for the Rams in 2A at 120 lbs.

He told Raccoon Valley Radio after some rest time he expects to be ready to wrestle at the National Freestyle Tournament in Fargo, ND later in July.
