The summer sports season has a lot of action condensed into a short amount of time and that’s no different for the Panorama Panthers Softball team but during a long weekend it’s time to look back on some of the best moments from the season so far.

The Panthers Softball team is currently 1-9 on the year so far but has plenty of positives to look at from superb batting averages well above .300 to players hitting home runs during games. When the Panthers faced off against the Madrid Tigers on May 31st they went into the bottom of the seventh inning down two runs at 12-10. Head Coach Kylee Boettcher says scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh seemed liked a tall order but the girls were up for it.

“The ball bounced our and our girls stepped up and executed. The play of the game in my mind is when we had runners at first and second and one out and Bridgette Ewing laid down a great bunt to move them around so with two outs and first base open we had Jaidyn Sellers stepping up and Madrid chose to intentionally walk her and loaded the bases.”

After hitting a home run earlier in the game the Tigers decided to walk Jaidyn Sellers to load the bases up with Jazmyn Sellers on deck for the batters box. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, down in the pitch count with one ball and two strikes to her name Jazmyn Sellers sent a pitch over the left field fence for a walk off grand slam for the Panthers third home run of the game and delivering a 14-12 victory over the Tigers.

“It takes all of them to get a win like that and to set the bases to even put us in a position to score and let alone win it. It was absolutely amazing when she crushed that ball over the fence with that walk off grand slam, definitely a highlight of my coaching career right there.”

With the Madrid Tigers being another West Central Activities Conference participant the Panthers Softball team will look to get a season sweep of them when they take them on again on June 20th at Madrid High School.
