CORY STEADMANA Perry man has been found guilty of arson in Greene County.

According to court documents, earlier this week, 19 year-old Cory Steadman of Perry was sentenced to three years of probation after pleading guilty to an aggravated misdemeanor for third degree arson after he and Marcus Schmitz allegedly set Robert Muir’s farm structure on fire at 2205 X Avenue on June 22, 2013.

He was also ordered to pay court costs of $1,800 and pay victim restitution to Muir in the amount of $29,400 for destroying his building.  Steadman’s other charge of a Class D Felony for second degree criminal mischief was dropped.

The other suspect, 19 year-old Schmitz from Perry, has pled guilty to an aggravated misdemeanor for third degree arson and will have his sentence hearing on April 11th.
