Dallas Center – Grimes girls soccer will be chasing history today in Des Moines, as the Mustangs will be looking for their first ever state championship when they take on the Waverly – Shell Rock GoHawks in a rematch of the 2021 final. DCG comes in with a 21-0 record, while Waverly-Shell Rock is 18-1.
DCG was able to give the GoHawks their only loss of the season with a 1-0 victory, with the match being relatively even. In the state final in 2021, W-SR was able to find a big day as they were able to defeat DCG by the score of 5-1.
Mustang soccer was able to find another quality game on Thursday in their victory against Cedar Rapids – Xavier by the score of 3-1. DCG was able to get two goals from Caroline White and the other goal from Kylie Knief, scoring three unanswered goals to finish out the game.
The GoHawks were able to win a physical game over Norwalk on Thursday 1-0.
DCG has been great in the postseason, as they have been able to tally eight goals in the state tournament, and will be looking to continue to put pressure on the offensive end while continuing to get good play from the defensive back line.
