The Freedom Rock located in Menlo gets a new painting every year and this year’s depiction is now on display, just in time for  Memorial Day. 

Freedom Rock Artist Ray Sorensen says this is the 24th year in a row he has repainted the rock in Menlo and this year’s design depicts a soldier holding an American flag with a flag draped coffin displayed in the background. Sorensen explains this design pays homage to those soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice. 

“My goal every time is just to tell veterans stories and honor them and especially Memorial Day where we honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and gave their lives for our country.”

The location of the rock is on Highway 25 in Menlo.
