Avid and beginning anglers are encouraged to take advantage of the Free Fishing Weekend in Iowa.
According to the Department of Natural Resources during Free Fishing Weekend from June 4th-6th, anyone can fish without a valid license. This is a great time for those who are interested in the sport to try it out, as well as seasoned veterans to participate.
Additionally, Greene County Conservation is also bringing back the Kids Fishing Derby on Sunday, June 12th at Spring Lake Park. County Conservation Director Tanner Scheuermann describes the details.
“We’re pretty excited about the Kids Fishing Derby. We’re going to do a little bit of altering with the rules, but it’ll be kids ages 4-15 I believe. But we’ll have three age classes and then we’ll give away prizes for all three age classes. We’re going to have door prizes for all participants. So everybody will go home with something.”
The Kids Fishing Derby is free and fishing supplies such as poles and bait will also be provided to the participants. Contact Greene County Conservation for more information.
