With the weather warming up, public works departments will be out and about more during the construction season.

Perry Public Works Director Jack Butler says they will try and keep the road open if at all possible to ensure people can get through the area.

“We just ask people to slow down, it’s huge. Just slow down please, just a little patience. We are not going to block off a road and keep traffic backed up for ten miles. If we have to block the road off you will be able to get around going this way or that way one block.”

Butler tells Raccoon Valley Radio when motorists are coming up on a construction zone the workers will be wearing their vests and lights are flashing to go along with the signage in the area stating there is road work.

“Just respect them, they are out there and you are in a motorized vehicle and it doesn’t take much to hurt somebody. Just please take your time and we always try to do PSAs, let people know ahead of time ‘hey this certain block is going to be closed or this is going on at this intersection’ Just to try to give the public a heads up ahead of time.”
