Weather permitting, the first Greene County High School softball broadcast of the season will be tonight from the City Diamond on E. Lincolnway in Jefferson. It’s also the home opener for the Rams as Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams are scheduled to host Class 3A number 9 Roland-Story (Story City). Both teams are 0-1 after Monday night losses to highly rated teams with outstanding pitchers. The Rams dropped their opener at Saydel High School in Des Moines by a 3-2 final, while R-S lost 3-0 at Collins-Maxwell.

Junior Emma Hoyle stood out for the Rams by pitching a complete game vs. the Eagles and allowing just three hits, all singles, and no earned runs. She walked just one batter and struck out seven. Hoyle also doubled and had a run batted in, while leadoff batter Olivia Shannon had a single and scored twice.

Air time tonight is set for just after 7 p.m. with first pitch set for 7:30 p.m. The Rams were rained out of baseball and softball games last night at Nodaway Valley.
