Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community has hired a new individual.

Matt Wetrich replaces Beth Vander Wilt as the Events and Tourism Coordinator. Earlier this year, Vander Wilt was hired by the Jefferson Matters Board as the new executive director. Wetrich has 15 years of experience in marketing and implementing public programming and events.

In 2018, he was the co-chair of Jefferson’s Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) overnight stop and he’s been a part of the Bringing Optimism and Opportunities to Students and Teachers (BOOST) of Greene County. Wetrich has been on the Jefferson City Council since 2018 and has a degree from Iowa State University in liberal studies and an associates degree in art and horticulture from Indian Hills Community College.

Wetrich is excited for this new venture after being a naturalist with the Carroll County Conservation Department and is looking forward to playing a more major role of the growth of Jefferson as the events and tourism coordinator.
