With the warmer months of the year upon us the City of Perry will now be spraying weekly for mosquitos.
The City announced that they will be spraying for mosquitos every Thursday evening and if the weather is bad it will then take place on Friday or Saturday evenings. Perry Public Works Director Jack Butler says people should be aware of things around their homes that may be holding water.
“With this warmer weather, we have had some ponds after the big rains. We encourage folks to keep your eyes out in your backyard if you’ve got a five gallon bucket holding water, dump that thing out. If you have anything out there that’s going to hold water and collect water it’s best to get that dumped out because otherwise that just turns into a mosquito breeding heaven and it is warming up and I have seen a couple mosquitos already.”
The city asks residents that if they know an area where water consistently collects, which can create a breeding ground for mosquitoes, they should call the Perry Street Department at 515-465-2675 so they can treat the water.
